Hi, I'm Logan Thomason.
I've been acting since I was four years old. More specifically, I've been acting since the moment I was not cast as The Ugly Duckling in kindergarten, when I learned that bitterness alone can sustain a career in the arts. Below are a few highlights of what's happened since that day.
In 2014, I originated the role of Chase in Ellen Hopkins' stage adaptation of her New York Times bestselling series Crank and its film adaptation, before graduating at 16 from the prestigious Davidson Academy, the first free public school of its kind for profoundly gifted middle and high school students.
In 2018/2019, I assistant-directed two projects with Jim Fall (Trick, The Lizzie McGuire Movie), both of which were nominated for the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Cannes Film Festival's American Pavilion. Pretty (2018) and Birthday Girl (2019) focused on LGBTQ youth stories, and gave me a personal grasp on how to approach filmmaking from a director's perspective.
In 2018 I joined the cast of Theatre Macabre, an immersive theatrical experience created by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Death of Me) after he was inspired by the success of Sleep No More. The cast would perform up to ten shows a night, with an ever-shifting story defined by the decisions of each and every audience member. I'd tell you all the celebrities that joined the show, but legally all I can say is that you should check Neil Patrick Harris's Instagram.
In 2020, I wrote and directed "Royalty" with Sav Souza (OBC 1776 Broadway Revival), at the Young Actors' Theatre Camp where Sav and I first met.
“Royalty” is a short film about Jax, a non-binary teenager, exhausted by always having to take the high road. In an effort to make space for gender non-conforming kids in high school traditions, Jax makes a bid for homecoming court in a race against their former best friend.
Royalty premiered at Outfest 2020, the largest film festival in Los Angeles, in the organization's first and only digital festival.
In 2023, I wrote and directed "August," the story of queer love and loss passed down between generations, largely inspired by the story of my own queer family history.
August has been making festival
appearances throughout 2023/2024, including the LGBTQ+ Toronto Film Festival, Silicon Valley Queer Film Festival, FenceSitter Film Festival,
with others TBA.
Arlo, a trans teenager who’s been living on his own for two years, comes face to face with a missing poster of himself that uses his deadname and a school picture taken years before he transitioned. Is his past calling? Will he answer?
ARLO will debut at the Cannes Film Festival's American Pavilion as part of the Emerging Filmmaker Showcase. It has also been accepted into the Queer Here Cinema, the Silicon Valley Queer Film Festival, and BASH Festival, with appearances TBA.
